In Hindu religion river Ganga is always addressed as a mother as she is known to remove all the sins of the devotees and help them get moksha. Gangotri is the highest temple that is dedicated to Goddess Ganga. Charan Paduka Puja is done for the welfare of the devotee and his/her family.
At first, the Sankalp will be taken in the name of the person. Then the mantras are chanted and Ganga mata is worshipped with flowers and other things. At last, the aarti is done inside the temple of Goddess Ganga and then her blessings are taken by the devotees and their family members.
