Panchamrita Abhishek in Bhimashankar is a Hindu ritual puja where five liquids are poured over the deities and mantras are chanted. It is a combination of two words i.e.., Pancha which means five and Amrita which means nectar. The five main ingredients are used to make Panchamrita including milk, curd, honey, ghee and sugar. These all are mixed together. Mantras are chanted throughout the process and once the puja is completed, the Panchamrut is distributed as prasad.
Devotees must observe a strict fast throughout the day and consume milk and fruits during the day, if absolutely necessary. Panchamrut mantra is done along with the Abhishek.
