About

The Sanskrit word 'Tarpan' means ' fulfilling' or ' satisfying'. Tarpan Puja is a significant ritual, which is dedicated to paying homage to one's ancestors. During this puja devotees offer many things to their ancestors.

At first, Sankalp is taken in the name of devotees. Then Panditji chants mantras and prayers to invoke god and also ancestors. Then devotees take blessings and offers some sesame seeds, barley grains which is mixed with water. At last, prayers is done and the puja is completed.
