Lord Shiva has many names like Shambhu, Mahadev, Shankar and Neelkanth. "Rudra" is one of the famous name of Lord Shiva. Rudrabhishek word is a combination of two words "Rudra" is a form of Lord Shiva and "Abhishek" means offering things on deity. The Rudrabhishek ritual is dedicated to Lord Shiva. While performing this puja Rudra mantras are chanted and it is believed that the Rudra Mantras are founded in Yajurveda. Performing Rudrabhishek puja helps make Lord Shiva happy and helpful to get blessings from great divine.
At first Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees. Than invoking Lord Shiva is done with mantras and prayers by the pujari. Than things like milk, Ganga Jal and flowers are used to Abhishek on Lord Shiva along with mantras chanted by the pujari. At last, arti is done by the pujari and blessings are taken by the devotees.
