Mahamrityunjay is sanskrit word the word is combination of three words "Maha" which means Great , “Mrityun” means Death and “Jaya” means victory over death. It is beleived that the Mahamrityunjay Jaap was found in Rig ved. It was was written by Markandey Rishi. This mantra us also known as "Rudra mantra" or "Trmbakam mantra". This mantra is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Chanting this mantra helps to seeking blessing from Lord Shiva.
At first, Sankalp is taken in the name of devotees. Then pujari ji will chant mantras and prayers to invoke Lord Shiva. Then Pujariji chants Mahamrityunjay Jaap 1.25 Lakh times. At last arti is done and blessings are taken by the devotees.
