Aundha Nagnath Temple
About Aundha Nagnath Temple
Aundha Nagnath Temple is an ancient Shiva temple and one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in Maharashtra's Hingoli district. It is believed that Yudhishthira originally built this temple. The current structure dates back to the 13th century, built by the Seuna (Yadava) dynasty. The temple, once seven stories high before being sacked by Aurangzeb, was later rebuilt by Ahilyabai Holka. It has Hemadpanti architecture and includes 12 small Jyotirlinga temples, 108 temples and 68 temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. Mahashivratri, Ekadashi and Vijayadashami are important festivals celebrated here. The best time to visit Aundha Nagnath Temple is during the winter months, from October to February.
