Kangara Chamunda Devi Temple

Chamunda Devi temple is one of the earliest temples in India, built in the 16th century. The temple is located in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh and is dedicated to Chamunda Devi, who is a form of Goddess Kali. It is one of the 51 Shakti Peeth and is believed to be more than 400 years old. Chamunda Devi temple is also known as Chamunda Nandikeshwar Dham. Lord Shiva resides near this temple in the form of Nandikeshwar.  The temple is situated on the Chamunda Hill, about 15 km from Dharamshala, in the Kangara district of Himachal Pradesh.

From Pathankot, you can take a taxi, take a bus, or use local transport to reach Dharamshala and then proceed to the temple, which is about 15 km from Dharamshala. Alternatively, there is a smaller Dharamshala Railway Station, but it is not as well connected as Pathankot.

By Air

The nearest airport to Chamunda Devi Temple in Himachal Pradesh is Gaggal Airport, Dharamshala, located about 15 km from the temple. From the airport, you can take a taxi or take a local bus to reach the temple. The airport has regular flights from major cities like Delhi and Chandigarh.

By Road

To come to Chamunda Devi Temple by road, you can drive or take a taxi from Dharamshala, which is about 15 km away from the temple. The temple is located on Chamunda Hill and is well connected by road to Dharamshala and nearby areas. You can also take a local bus from Dharamshala to the temple. The roads are well maintained and the journey provides mesmerising views of the nearby mountains.

The best time to visit Chamunda Devi Temple is during Navratri and Dussehra, when the temple sees large crowds. However, the weather is good year-round, with summer (March to June) being the best time for sightseeing.
