Dakshineshwar Kali Temple is located on the banks of the Hooghly River of Kolkata, West Bengal. The Dakshineshwar Kali Temple was built by Rani Rashmoni, it was in the year 1847 A.D. when Rani Rashmoni prepared to go to Kashi to express her devotion to the Divine Mother but according to history the night before Rani was about to leave for Kashi (Varanasi), she saw a dream the Goddess, Kali appeared and told her that there is no need to go to Kashi, instead set my statue in the temple on the bank of the Ganges river and arrange my worship there. The Goddess also said that I would declare myself in the image and accept worship at that place. After the dream, Rani bought 30,000 acres of land for the construction of the temple, a large temple was built between 1847 A.D. to 1855 A.D.
