About Monkey Temple

Galtaji Temple in Jaipur, also known as the "Monkey Temple", is an ancient pilgrimage center located among the Aravalli Hills. The temple is famous for its monkeys, which are considered sacred here and people come to see them. This temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman, who is considered the God of monkeys. Thousands of monkeys live here, so it is called "Monkey Temple". There are seven sacred ponds (reservoirs) in the temple complex, the most famous of which is "Galta Kund". This temple was built in the 18th century by Diwan Rao Kriparam. Here the ascetic saint Galav had meditated for years, that is why it is called "Galta Ji". The temple is made of pink sandstone and is located among the hills. The combination of Rajasthani architecture as well as natural water sources in it makes it special. This is an ancient Buddhist stupa, which is sacred for both Hindu and Buddhist religions. Thousands of monkeys live here and the local people consider them auspicious.
