The Ramanathaswamy Temple (Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy Temple), located on Rameswaram island in Tamil Nadu, is a well-known Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and one of the twelve Jyotirlinga temples. It was established by Lord Rama before his journey to Lanka and is part of the 275 sacred Paadal Petra Sthalams. The temple, built in the 12th century, has the longest corridor of any Hindu temple and is a popular pilgrimage destination for Shaivites, Vaishnavites and Smartas. The best time to visit Ramanathaswamy Temple is between October and March. Mahashivaratri and the annual Rameswaram Festival are important festivals celebrated here.
