The Savitri Temple is located on Ratnagiri Hill in the city of Pushkar, Rajasthan. The temple is dedicated to Mata Savitri, who is the first wife of Lord Brahma. In this temple, there are two idols of both the wives of Lord Brahma named Savitri and Gayatri. But as per tradition, Goddess Savitri is always worshipped first and then prayer is offered to Goddess Gayatri. Mata Gayatri is known as the second wife of Lord Brahma.
According to the legend, Lord Brahma performed a Yagna at Pushkar, where his wife Saraswati could not reach on time. Hence, in order to perform the pooja on time, Lord Brahma completed the ritual with the help of a local girl, Gayatri, who then became the second wife of Brahma.
The temple is built at a height of 750 feet (284 meters) on Ratangiri Hill. A ride of ropeway or 200 stairs can lead a devotee to the temple. The temple is visited by the devotees to get the blessing for prosperity and martial harmony. Thus, the temple, having its own importance and significance, is visited by many devotees and tourists.
