Shree Parsvnath Jain Temple Shankeshwar

The Shankheshwar Jain Temple is located in Patan district, Gujarat. The temple is dedicated to Lord Parshwanath and is a 23 Tirthankar of Jainism. It is the oldest, historical and major temple of Jainism after the Shatrunjaya hill in Palitana. During the months of Posh, Magasar and Diwali, a large number of Pilgrims visit this holy place. In 1155 Vikram Samvat (1098 CE), Sajjan Shah rebuilt and renovated the Shankheshwar Parshwanath Jain Temple, located on the banks of the Rupen River. Later, in 1286 Vikram Samvat (1229 CE), the temple was renovated again by Vastupala and Tejpal, following the guidance of Vardhamansuri. At that time, the temple housed 52 idols.

The nearest airport is Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, located around 125 kilometres from Shankheshwar. After arriving at the airport, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Shankheshwar. The road journey takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours via well-maintained highways.

By Road

Shankheshwar is approximately 45 kilometres from Patan. The journey by road takes about 1 hour. Buses and taxis are available from Patan to Shankheshwar.
