The Shri Srikanteshwara Swami Temple is located in town of Nanjangud and city of Mysore, Karnataka, India. The Temple is dedicated to Lord Mahadev. Srikanteshwar Temple or Nanjundeshwar Temple is the largest temple in Karnataka located in Nanjangud, Nanjangud is situated on the bank of Kapila (Kabini) river of the river Kaveri . It was also known as Garlapuri in Sthanapurana. The town became sanctified due to the "confluence" where Gundlu and Kapila join. The place is called Parasurama Kshetra where sage Parasurama is said to have been compensated for the sin of beheading his mother. Nanjangud is also called "Dakshina Kashi".
