Asthi Visarjan Puja

Asthi Visarjan Puja is a Hindu ritual that involves placing the Asthi of a deceased person into a holy river. This ceremony is regarded as an important component of the last ritual in Hindu tradition because it represents the complete separation of the soul from the physical body and helps in achieving Moksha.

Asthi Visarjan Vidhi

The family collects the Asthi in Kalash and puja items, chooses an opportune time and travels to a holy river like Ganga. They take a Sankalp under the guidance of a pandit, summon deities and ancestors and offer flowers, sandalwood paste and incense. The Asthi are then submerged in water with prayers. Following that, they offer tarpan (water) and pray for the soul's peace, showing respect and helping the soul's journey to the afterlife.
