In the Hindu calendar, there are four holy months, which are known as chaturmas. Shrawan is one of the chaturmas. Shrawan Mas is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Shrawan mas falls during the fifth month of the Hindu lunar calendar. It is believed that the Samudra manthan was done during the chaturmas, and after that incident, the Lord Shiva devotees celebrate this month as Shrawan. During the holy Shravan month, Shivalinga is worshipped, and people pray to Lord Shiva for the entire night. Abhishek will be performed on the sacred Shivling every Monday of Shravan Maas using holy materials like water, milk, honey, and Bilva Patra. After the completion of Shravan Maas, blessed Prasad will be sent to devotees at their residential address.
