Satyanarayan Puja is a religious ritual in which a picture or idol of Lord Satyanarayan is installed and worshipped. The term "Satyanarayan" translates to "the Lord of Truth," where "Satya" means truth and "Narayan" refers to Lord Vishnu, who is the preserver and protector of the universe. This puja is mainly done by the married couples or partners.
At first, Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotee. Then invoking Lord Satyanarayana is done with the help of mantras and prayers by the pujari. Then the story of Lord Satyanarayana is narrated by the pujariji which is also known as Satyanarayan Katha, which is to be heard by all the devotees who are taking part in this puja. At last, the pujari ji does the Arti of Lord Satyanarayan and the puja is completed.
