Durga Saptashati is a Hindu scripture with 700 Shlokas. The Durga Saptashati tells the story of the battle between Goddess Durga and Mahishasura. During the puja various mantras and Jaap are chanted and Goddess Durga is worshipped. The word Saptashai is a combination of two words "Sapta" means Seven and "shata" means hundred. This path is a collection of 700 powerful shlokas organized into thirteen chapters which include Kavach, Argala and Keelak. Durga Saptashati Path was written by sage Markandeya. Performing this puja in Vindhyachal is beneficial.
At first, Sankalp is taken in the name of devotees. Then invoking Goddess Durga is done with mantras and prayers by the pujari. Then all the nine incarnations of Goddess Durga are worshipped. Then pujari chants shlok from Durga Saptashati while performing Chandi yagna, offering seven hundred Ahuti into the sacred fire. At last, arti is done of the Goddess and the puja is completed.
