Ganesh Puja Vidhi and mantra 

  1. Start the puja by cleaning the place where the puja will be performed. Place the Ganesh idol on the clean red cloth.
  2. Close your eyes and chant the mantra to invoke Lord Ganesh - Mantra - “Om Shri Ganeshaya Namah" "Vakratunda Mahakaya Suryakoti Samaprabha, Nirvighnam Kurume Deva Sarva-Kaaryeshu Sarvada"
  3. Place water in your palm, take a bow and declare intent to worship Lord Gnaesha by stating the purpose of the puja. Mantra - "Mamopaatta samastha duritakshayadwara Shri Ganesh Pujam karishye."
  4. Place flowers, rice and a few grains of turmeric on the idol or picture of Lord Ganesha for Avaahana. Mantra- "Om Ganeshaaya Namah, Aavaahayaami"
  5. Offer water to Lord Ganesha for rinsing his mouth (Arghya). Mantra: "Om Ganeshaaya Namah, Arghyam Samarpayaami" 
  6. Offer water again for drinking and purification (Achamanam). Mantra- "Om Ganeshaaya Namah, Achamaniyam Samarpayaami"
  7. Offer Abhishekam to lord Ganesh with Panchamrit (a mixture of milk, ghee, curd, honey and sugar). Mantra- "Om Ganeshaaya Namah, Panchamrit Snanam Samarpayaami"
  8. Offer a fresh piece of red cloth to Lord Ganesha. Mantra- "Om Ganeshaaya Namah, Vastraani Samarpayaami"
  9. Apply sandalwood paste or Chandan to the idol. Mantra- "Om Ganeshaaya Namah, Gandham Samarpayaami"
  10. Offer fresh flowers and durva Grass to Lord Ganesh. Mantra- "Om Ganeshaaya Namah, Pushpani Samarpayaami"
  11. Offer sweets like Modak, coconut, seasonal fruits and other prasad items to Lord Ganesh. Mantra- "Om Ganeshaaya Namah, Naivedyam Samarpayaami"
  12. Offer betel leaves and nuts. Mantra: "Om Ganeshaaya Namah, Tambulam Samarpayaami"
  13. Perform Aarti by lightening diya and singing a devotional song dedicated to Lord Ganesha
  14. After the puja take blessings and offer silent prayers.
  15. On the Visarjan day, offer flowers, Modak and then perform aarti and walk around the home taking Ganpati Bappa in your hand. Then immerse the idol in the holy water or natural water or in a container filled with water at home. Mantra for Visarjan- "Ganapati Bappa Moriya, Agle Baras Tu Jaldi Aa."
