When a child is born into the Nakshatras of Rewati, Ashlesha, Jayeshtha, Mool, Magha or Ashwini then it is believed that a person has Gandmool Dosh. To remove the effects of this dosh or to reduce the effects of it a person needs to perform Gandmool Puja. This puja is performed to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha and the ruling deity of the particular Gandmool Nakshatra to neutralize any negative influences.
At first, Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees. Then invoking Lord Ganesh is done with the help of mantras and jaap by the pujariji. Then offering of things like flowers, fruits, grains etc is done by the pujari by following all the Vedic rituals. Then Hawan is done. At last, the puja is completed by the offering of aarti is done and the blessings are taken.
