Gangotri - Tarpan Puja
About
The Sanskrit word "Tarpan" means "fulfilling" or "satisfying." During this vidhi, mantras and prayers are chanted by the Panditji. In this puja name and gotra will be mentioned by the Panditji. Tarpan Puja is mostly done as a way to honor and show appreciation to one's ancestors.
At first, Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees. Then chanting of mantras and prayers are done to invoke the god and ancestors of the devotees, to seek their blessings. Then offering some sesame seeds, barley grains etc is done which is mixed with water. At last, prayer is done and the puja is completed
