Pitru dosh word is a combination of two words 'Pitru' which means forefather and 'dosh' means defect or imbalance in a person's kundali. Pitru dosh occurs when the position of Rahu and Ketu is uncertain in a person's birth Chart. If the ancestor's certain rituals, such as proper rites after death etc it is believed that their spirits may cause problems for their descendants. Performing this ritual helps to remove Pitru dosh from an individual's life.
At first, Sankalp is taken in the name of devotees. Then invoking Lord Ganesha is done to reduce hurdles that affect the puja by chanting mantras by pujari ji. Then pind is placed in front of Kalash and offering water with other sacred items is done by the pujari ji following all the Vedic rituals properly. At last, Puja is completed by the offering of prayers.
