About
Pattabishekam is a grand and important ritual celebrated at the Sita Ramachandraswamy Temple. It marks the victory of good over evil and the return of peace, justice, and righteousness. This sacred event shows the power of Dharma and the values of ideal leadership. At the temple, the ritual is performed with great devotion and care. Lord Rama is respectfully anointed and seated on a throne as a king. The ceremony is filled with Vedic chants, auspicious music, and deep devotion. Pattabishekam gives blessings of success, peace, prosperity, and moral strength. It reminds us of Lord Rama’s qualities—truth, humility, devotion, and just rule—and inspires us to follow them in life.
In the Pattabhishek ritual first involves taking a Sankalp in the name of the devotees. The deity is then invoked by the priest. The coronation of Lord Rama is reenacted while explaining the purpose of the puja. The idols of Lord Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, Bharata, and Shatrughna are given a beautiful bath, dressed in royal attire, and adorned with crowns, jewellery, and silken garments. The main deity, Lord Rama, is ceremoniously seated on a throne, symbolising his divine kingship. The pandit ji chants Vedic mantras, including Sri Ram Pattabhishek shlokas, while abhishek is performed with holy substances such as milk, honey, ghee, and water. It is extremely auspicious to witness this ritual, which inspires one to seek blessings for righteousness, leadership, family unity, and success in life, inspired by the ideal rule of Lord Rama.
