Lingaraj - Maharudrabhishek Puja

Gangajal Abhishek Puja is a Hindu ritual where the offering of water is done with other items on the lingam. The puja is mostly performed in the temples. During the puja various mantras are also chanted and prayers are done. Jal Abhishek on Lingaraj is performed to invoke the blessings of Rudra the form of Lord Shiva.

Dudh Abhishek is a ritual in which Shivlinga is bathed with milk using a thin stream of brass jars. Dudh (Milk) is continuously poured and chanting of mantas is done. Performing this puja in Lingaraj is auspicious.

Milk holds significant symbolic and religious importance in the worship of Lord Shiva. It is often seen as a symbol of purity and nourishment. Offering milk to Lord Shiva during rituals like Abhishek is a way of acknowledging and seeking his divine grace and blessings.

Panchamrita Abhishek is a Hindu ritual puja where five liquids are poured over the deities and mantras are chanted. It is a combination of two words i.e.., Pancha which means five and Amrita which means nectar. The five main ingredients are used to make Panchamrita including milk, curd, honey, ghee and sugar. These all are mixed. Mantras are chanted throughout the process and once the puja is completed, the Panchamrut is distributed as prasad. Doing this in Lingaraj is auspicious.
