Saptashrungi - Navchandi Yagna

About

The term "Navchandi" is derived from two words "Nav' means nine and "Chandi" referes to the goddess Chandi or Durga. In this ritual all the nine forms od the Goddess are worshipped. During this ritual involves the reciation of the Durga Saptashatipath which involves 700 verses divided into 13 chapters. This verse describe the story of the the battle between Goddess Durga and Mahishasura.  


At first sankalp is taken in the name of devotees. Then invoking of Goddess Durga is done with mantras and prayers by the pujari. Then all the nine incarnations of Goddess Durga are worshipped. Then Durga Saptshi Path is done by the pujri and a hawan is performed at the end of the puja. At last, arti is done of the Goddess and the puja is completed.

Ghee(घी), Flower(फूल), Fruits(फल), Sandalwood(चंदन), Akshat(अक्षत), Honey(शहद), Ganga jal(गंगा जल), Milk(दूध), Curd(दही), Kapoor(कपूर), Sugar(चीनी), Coconut(नारियल), Turmeric(हल्दी ), Mango Leaf(आम का पत्ता), Dry Fruits(सूखे मेवे).
