Navagraha Havan is also known as Navagraha Homam which involves worshipping the nine celestial bodies or planets that are believed to have an important role in human life. The term "Navagraha" means nine celestial bodies in Sanskrit where nava means nine and Graha means planet or celestial body. These planets are the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu. The Navagraha Havan is performed to take blessings for a good life including health, wealth, family and overall well-being.
At first, Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees. Than all nine planets are first established for Havan. While reciting the mantra, the planets are invoked by offering Akshat with the right hand. It is followed with puja of Lord Ganesh and all the Navgrah. Then Hawan is done for all the Navgrah. At last, aarti is done to receive the blessings of the Navgrah.
