About
Mool Nakshatra Shanti Puja, also known as Gand Mool Nakshatra Shanti Puja or Sataisa Puja, is a Hindu ritual performed to mitigate the negative effects of being born under one of the six Gand Mool Nakshatras: Ashwini, Ashlesha, Magha, Jyeshtha, Moola, and Revati. This puja aims to bring peace, prosperity, and protection to the individual and their family by appeasing the ruling deities and planets associated with these nakshatras. There are 27 Nakshatras in Vedic astrology. Mool Nakshatra is the 19th, ruled by Ketu, and falls under the sign of Sagittarius. It is considered a Gandmool Nakshatra, and births under this star are said to carry karmic baggage or challenges unless pacified with rituals.
Mool Nakshatra Shanti Puja is performed to nullify the malefic effects of being born under Mool Nakshatra (Ashwini, Magha, Moola, etc.). The puja is especially vital if a child is born under Moola Nakshatra’s 1st pada. The ritual is usually performed on the 27th day after birth or on the child's first birthday. The puja begins with Ganesh Puja followed by Kalash Sthapana and Navagraha Puja. The main ritual includes chanting Mool Shanti mantras, havan (fire ritual), and offering oblations to planets and deities. The child’s horoscope is consulted to pacify afflicted planets. Special prayers are offered to Lord Ketu, the ruling planet of Mool Nakshatra. Brahmins are fed, and clothes or donations are given in charity. This puja brings peace, longevity, and removes obstacles. It is ideally performed at a holy temple or by a learned priest at home for maximum benefit.
